Got a brand new 2017 Qashqai (got a https://maybeloan.com/payday-loans/mi for this car), AWD April 2019. I have about 13000 km on it, so about 8000 miles. I still haven't gotten a service reminder, so the car is still with the factory oil.

I searched online, says to change oil every 8000 miles, so I'm right there, but I figured this car that has so much tech in it will remind me it's time for service. Will it? All my other cars so far would give me a 15%, 10%, 5% etc... oil life reminders, and I could go through the menus at any time to see what I have left. I'm getting a little paranoid. I'll be calling Nissan Monday morning, but if someone knows whether this car has those service reminders, I'll appreciate a reply.

you can change the oil and oil filter as many times as you like i always do mine twice a year. if you look through the settings on the dash you`ll see how many miles are left for the next service as it counts them down

Welcome to this forum. Please read the documentation that came with your car.

A Qashqai needs a service every year - at least those sold in the UK do. It's time and distance dependent.

An oil change isn't at 8k miles - in the UK. It's 12,500 or 18,000 for a 2017 version. Nowadays they're all at 18,000. Or annually.

What is the situation with this lockdown?
Service was due on or about April 20th. I have had 3 tentative appointments cancelled by Nissan as centres weren't open, or as on last occasion no one was able to pick up the car.
I am self isolating on the grounds of age and health and don't really want to risk a two hour stay around the dealers.
The car has barely been off the drive since March 17th so no mileage is being added.
Two years old so another year left on the warranty.
Question is will warranty be honoured in the event of a problem, since servicing times have not been adhered to??

Calmac, this should set your mind at rest old recent post - Dave 😉

Thank you for contacting Nissan Customer Services.

As I am sure you can appreciate, this is an unprecedented situation which is affecting many of our customers.

During this COVID-19 period if you cannot have the service completed in line with Nissan guidelines please don't worry as we will honour your remaining warranty on the vehicle.

Please liaise with your local dealer to carry out the required routine service at the earliest opportunity. It is also expected that due to the current situation the vehicle usage will be reduced.

Nissan will apply their service guidelines flexibly to support our customers in this difficult time, however please ensure Engine Oil and Engine Coolant levels are maintained within the normal range. See your Owner's Manual or NISSAN Driver's Guide App for assistance.

Please see the following link for more on Nissan’s stance on the matter:

Thanks so much for that information. Considerably eased my mind as I have so little technical knowledge I won't now drive a car out of warranty.
I should be OK for another year before I decide whether to continue with Nissan or seek pastures new.
Thanks again!
