switching off map display

I have a 17 plate Nissan Qashqai 1.6 dCi Tenka 5 door hatchback
hi all, a friend has told me that the map display on a quashqai can be switched off and just the time displayed, he said do it by holding the day/night button on the right of the head unit. Quick single press to bring map back. he was not sure which was the head unit, my first though was the interior driving mirror but that didn't work, can somebody enlighten me please, all help and advice appreviated

The head unit is the complete centre display...with map screen and control knobs (on/off, volume, Nav, Setup etc). Is generically known as an In-Car Entertainment system (ICE) .

There is a Night/Day button there also. See your car User Manual for what each button can do.
