Evening,

I have a 2011 Qashqai +2 Tekna - for about 8 months I noticed that the drivers side, black button on the door handle was playing up, originally I thought this was maybe due to a flat battery in the remote so I changed it, I did think this had fixed it but a short time after the button started to play up even after another new battery.

I then noticed, if I pushed the button hard and on a funny angle the car would unlock as it should. Sometimes it would work normal and sometimes I would have to push it hard. About a week ago the button has now totally died and wont work at all, no matter how much I try. The passenger door button and the boot button work fine and the remote functions correctly. I am guessing the actual button in the handle has died and needs to be replaced.

I've search and search to see if these buttons can be changed without buying a whole new handle but cant find anything on, does anyone know if these buttons can be replaced on there own, or is it a whole new handle? Also if I do replace the whole handle would I then have to reprogram my remote fob to the new handle and would I have to do anything with the actual lock to make it work with my key?

Hopefully this will make sense to someone.

Thanks Jay

Is that a handle with a key hole?

It does have a slot where I can use a key, the handle also is central locked controlled.

As far as I can tell the Button is not a separate item although I don't have a Parts List. The handle also incorporates a small radio antenna for the security system. That works in conjunction with the KeyFob in very near proximity to the handle. The Keyfob must be near the door when the handle button is pressed.

Neither the Button or the Antenna is special to the car as far as I can tell. Perhaps others here have more info?

Looking at the handle without any attempts to taking it off yet, it does look like the whole handle would have to be bought but I thought I would ask the question as it would be cheaper to just replace the button, if it could have been done. My main worry was if I did by a new handle (second hand anyway), how much of a fuss would it be to fit it and was worried about maybe needing to reprogram the handle to the car and fob.

The attached diagram shows the button part. It appears to be common to most car configurations. As far as I can tell from the electrical diagrams its a single pole switch that grounds an input to BCM. Simple stuff. Getting the handle off I suggest is a real mess around:

My intelligent button on my boot has also packed up, both door buttons still work. I’ve searched around and am buggered if I can find any info about trying to replace it/buy a new part to change it.. anyone got any clues ? It’s a 2012 qashqai +2 (not that it’s particularly relevant). I have a feeling it has got a small nick in the rubber button part which has got water in it so probably shorted that one button as it was working fine before the heavens opened in Edinburgh over the weekend !

I just want a new button + wiring to the connector plug but cannot find any trace of this being a part you can buy

Best I saw is new (non OEM) on eBay. Look at the car list on lower part of page and other pics there

Thanks but That’s the tailgate opener, I meant the intelligent locking button, the small black oval button so I can unlock / lock the doors without having to use the key
