fixed or detachable swan neck towbars

getting a swan neck towbar fitted on my 17 plate Nissan Qashqai 1.6 dCi Tenka 5 door hatchback, wondering if a fixed swan neck will interfere with the rear sensors or would a Detachable swan neck towbar one be better? all help and advice apprciated

Conrail, I cannot really answer your question as we have no Towbar. It might be worth taking a look in “Search” Area as there have been several posts over the years, just put in “Swan Neck Towbar” and a few should Pop Up. Here is one as an example - Dave 😊

I tow with a QQ 1.6 diesel and have a detachable tow bar. When it's connected to the car, the rear sensors go potty when I have to reverse on site. It tows my 1300kg van with ease.

thank you Qashowner, won't the sensors pick up the van when reversing, previosly had a ford c-max and sensors picked up the van, have ordered a detachable swan neck tow bar

^^ No, when the van was detached and I had to reverse, the sensors still went nuts because of the tow bar. I must say though, I did not have the dedicated electrics for the car, that was another £60 from memory.

tank you Qashowner, I also am not having the dedicated electrics but as I have gone for the detachable towbar hopefully I should be ok
