Yes, I have annual hire car excess - owing to having had two holidays in Australia recently with several hire cars involved each time. The previous holiday I'd suffered a dent in the bonnet of a hire car - I think someone sat on it while parked at a railway station - but I managed to "pop it out" and avoid a claim. I've not tried claiming on my annual policy.

Just dropped my Qashqai off for a minor service (3rd service) and first MOT.

I pre-booked a courtesy car and I’ve got a brand new Tekna Qashqai for the day, with all the trimmings.

As per previous visits to the dealership, no payment required for insurance cover.

It’s only the second time I’ve driven an automatic but I tried out ProPILOT on the way home (20 mile journey) and that seemed to work flawlessly (i.e. intelligent cruise control). Not tried out Apple Car Play as I didn’t have a USB cable with me but I managed to find Radio 1 DAB and that sounded alright with the BOSE system.

The acceleration is really impressive! :D ;)

Sandgrounder, that is good to hear your comment on the ProPILOT because I have the same opinion and it is just so convenient, but I like also to Drive it. See you had a heavy boot and it does move, what is your opinion on the DCT Gearbox - Dave 🤪

I liked it a lot, Dave. 70 mph on the dual carriageway was a blast - it left other cars in the dust. ;)

The 19" Michelin tyres seemed similar to my 18" in absorbing bumps on the road except there was just a bit more road noise above 60 mph. I got 40 mpg going home this morning. Returning to the dealers this afternoon it was 44 mpg.

I had the ProPILOT working all the time on the return journey, even approaching roundabouts and traffic lights. It wasn’t too keen on narrow roads with cars parked either side. It beeped and turned off the ProPILOT. I’m guessing its main use is on dual carriageways and motorways but overall it was impressive tech :)

I asked them to replace the wiper blades on my Qashqai, as they had all started to split. £32 including VAT and fitting. £10 more than ordering online but at least it’s done and I’m supporting a local business. That’s my reasoning. They have NISSAN end caps on them...

Sandgrounder, those Blades look a bit Classy with the Nissan End Caps. I recently changed our Nissan Blades to the Bosch AeroTwin AR652S which I prefer and cost around €22 from Amazon - Dave 🤫
