Does the original audio USB stick work on PCs? And I presume its formatted to FAT32

thank you calnorth, the usb is in fact a 'gogear mp3 player' formatted to fat32, did work straight away when first plugged in, only stopped after I used another usb to imput my POI's, I am currently transfering music onto another fat32 formatted usb to see if that will work, I will keep you informed

hi calnorth, sorry about the delay, been playing about with various options, the original 'gogear' usb plays when I switch it on until I get out of the car, ie shopping, get back in switch it back on and get the 'aux can play USB's' message, I will keep persevering, have an hours drive later today, will see if it plays, back at the car after an hours stop so see what happens then

Just to point a finger:
I have found the Nissan Connecta box as regards USB to be somewhat inconsistent using different Mass Storage Devices (USB sticks/devices by different manufacturers). I cannot get any of my Kingston USB sticks to be recognised for instance...3 of them (8GB thru 32GB). Sandisk not a problem at all. All work as FAT32/NTFS or EXT4 USB devices with a PC running Windows 10 or Linux.

There is a distinct difference between a PC and a Nissan Connect box as regards the USB controllers. The immediate thing is that Nissan Connect won't recognise an NTFS formatted device. That puts things behind the curve substantially. It thus comes down to drivers that a PC would auto employ to control any USB device...or a wide range lets say. So it does, but the USB Controller/driver is limited in the Nissan box IMO.

I don't appreciate not being advised in the Car Owners manual about what should be used. The error messages are poor also.

That player appears to be only 4GB or 8GB - might as well use a cheap ordinary USB stick as you're now experimenting with than try and persevere.

Amazon do a 16GB one for £2.99...
