Hi,
I have recently brought a 2017 N-Connecta Nissan Qashqai and have noticed that if I unlock my Qashqai and only open the passenger door and do nothing else for around 20 seconds, the car tries to auto lock which then 10 seconds later subsequently sets off the car alarm.
Although this scenario will be rare, it is rather annoying if you are showing the car to somebody from the passenger side without opening any other doors.

Has anybody come across this scenario before and if so, how do you get round it, or even bette, disable it?

Welcome to this forum.

It sounds like the system isn't recognising the door opening and thus activating the autolock.

Is the courtesy light coming on when you open that door?

Note that the autolock should engage after 2 minutes not 20 seconds:

If the vehicle is unlocked and no doors are opened for 2 minutes the doors will automatically be locked.

Just a thought - is anyone pressing the keyless entry button on the door handle when opening the door? My father, and other passengers, would use the handle to open the door and inadvertently press the keyless entry button at the same time. That was turning into a source of frustration with doors locking and alarms activating - until I turned off the keyless entry! I’m sure the car auto locks after approximately 30 seconds if no doors are opened?

It's happening when I use the keyless entry through the passenger door side and open no other doors.
The courtesy light is coming on and have noticed the auto lock/alarm are now activating when sitting in the passenger seat and closing the passenger door.
I just want to ascertain if this is supposed to happen on Qashqai's or if I need to arrange to take this in to my local Nissan dealer to get looked at?

I don't remember it happening when I had mine - but obviously can't now test it. Hopefully someone here can test theirs and let you know.
