Tried to add my vehicle to nissan connect in order to access "my apps" and it would not accept the vin. Kept saying "wrong vin" Spoke with customer services at nissan who told me this has been withdrawn for all qashqais up to 2018. She didn't know why. Seems a bit odd for a 4 year car? Anyone know any more? Still works fine for BT etc just can't use the apps it would seem.

OK, just seen an earlier post re this. Seems an email was sent out advising this service was stopping. Real shame.

Just bought an April 2018 N-Connecta model on Tuesday. Had same problem trying to set up Nissan Connect. I didn't have the "wrong vin" issue you had, but I set up a Nissan Connect You+ account as they advised and then downloaded the android smartphone app which you would have needed to communicate with the infotainment system. It wouldn't accept the You+ account username and password I'd set up (said "not authenticated").

Rang customer services and they told me the same thing as you - the service was withdrawn for Qashqai's from April this year. It's a shame as I was intrigued about using Google, Facebook, etc, in the car. However, I've read elsewhere that even when it did work, it didn't always work very well! The customer service guy said it was withdrawn because there were lots of bugs in the software. I asked him if Nissan were going to fix this and re-release the software but he didn't seem to know!

Regards,
James

Suspect it was more likely security breaches/vulnerabilities that caused the withdrawal.

The Connect 3 I have from 2017 production has Firmware version F16A installed. So that remains for 3yrs pretty much after 2 dealer services. SD Map Card updated once.

Nissan say nothing so I class it as abandoned really. I suppose its lucky for them the Firmware so far has had no serious issues...like previous D series Firmware. There's no simple path to upgrade and so it hangs there rather untidily I'd say. Plus the useless stuff sitting on their website.

Recently bought 2018 Qashqai from a local dealer... using NissanConnect was a tick on the list of requirements for our family car going forward. So when being shown the car a specific question that was asked to the salesman was “can I use it to connect my phone, use all the apps etc” and a clear reply of Yes was given, thought we were onto a winner.

Shame I’ve spent ages until coming across this forum to find out I wasn’t the only one who put the VIN number and be shocked at it saying it’s incorrect.
If the 2020 models are using NConnect then why are the 18 models unable to be upgraded to that software? Or am I being naive or missing something?

As I understand it, the Connect units changed in late 2018 in terms of hardware and software, not just software, so a software update only isn't feasible for the older units.

It was hopeless as a service so not a loss at all. SO inflexible as to what you could do - e.g. with Facebook you could just check-in - nothing else. Google was very limited too. Just use your phone

Thanks - how about using Waze, Spotify? Was the configuration still poor for this?

I think I’m more concerned that the salesman has sold as could be used but clearly not... a lengthy conversation with the sales manager I believe is needed...

If your head unit has a map SD Card at the top right corner of the unit then the only "special" Nav function you can use is POI installation. No Apps can be loaded to it...it has been abandoned by Nissan as regards forward development
