radio with bad quality sounds

Hi there

I am new here, thank you for having me,s o please bear with me if I repeat old questions.

Last year I visited Sweden and hired a new 2016 Qashqai, I was so pleased with the car that I decided to buy one at the earliest time. So last month I bought a brand new Qashqai Tekna 2018 with an 1,2 turbo engine. All fine, I was very pleased and enjoying the car until......I turned on the radio. What the ... was that awful sound coming out of the speakers? Or rather that plain, non stereo, no bass or treble sound, awful empty sound.
In my old Chevy Cruze 2015 I had a much much better radio with a fantastic sound, it was like sitting in a concert hall.
I tried every way possible, learning the handbook by memory, checking with a garage, speaking to the salesmen (who only refered me to the garage).
I noticed that in Europe some places sells this modell with the BOSE system but I must have got a BLAH system.

In short, am I the only one with this problem? Is there something to do except getting a new system on my own expense?

Jacjak, as far as I know and have read in the UK & Here in Germany for example from the “Tekna” up a Bose System is installed - see Nissan UK Attachment. Now I cannot read Swedish but it looks like in Sweden only the “Tekna +” has the Bose option - see attached, this will most likely be called a “Country Specification”. It looks like your Sales guys do not know the QQ, but did you not see this point when specifying your QQ ?. I hope this is of some help - Dave

I can read it and it is like you say, Bose is only installed with the + version. At least in the Swedish version.

My Qashqai is an UK factory made version and if I look at their details, it should have come with the Bose system.
So either I am wrong or the importer here "took" it away,
Do you know where I can buy one on the net?

Jacjak, your QQ is no doubt built in Sunderland, UK, but this does not mean that your QQ has the UK Specs. As I mentioned before there are “Country Specifications “ that can vary vastly. Ours is a “UK” vehicle to German “Specifications” and there are differences and you have no doubt got what your Country specifies - unfortunately in your Tekna No Böse System - Dave

Thanks DaveBerlin, I appreciate your expertiz and knowledgable advice.
Do you know how I can exchange the rubbish I have now to a Bose or other good system? Or maybe new speakers will do the trick, like Focal ones?

jackal, any good car audio installer, or do it yourself. Personally I find nothing wrong with the factory fitted audio equipment.

gvmdaddy, mine is simply awful with boring empty non-stereo sound.
Certainly not a Bose or any system with brandname

DaveBerlin: Could it maybe be an issue of bad Shark Fin Antenna?

Do you have better quality when playing CD??

Jacjak, I do not think the problem could be the Antenna as this new DAB was new for the J11B model previously not available on the J11A. You could always ask your Nissan Dealer as they should know what is needed and involved - Dave

As gvmdaddy mentioned you could contact a HiFi Specialist, but there was Upgraded Nissan Kits made available to improve the old J11A model :
