Qashqai Model: Mk.2 Qashqai - J11 (2013–2017)

Post by Bradders »

Having recently purchased my 64 plate Nissan Qashqai, I am more than happy with it..

My question is where can I get roof bars etc from for a roof box without spending a fortune ?? Halfords want nearly £200 and Nissan are closed til tomorrow... Any thoughts ???

Only plan to use them a few times a year in the Summer.. all suggestions welcomed 😊

Hello Bradders,
First question is do you have the roof rails fitted to the car?
If so, I use some universal ones purchased from Lidl or Aldi or some discount shop chain (cant recall) for my J11A Qashqai and they fit the new J11B one too. As long as they are for the roof rails with gaps below the rails and they are long enough to go across the roof, you should be good with universal ones. The reason I mention the gap is that there are universal ones for roof rails that dont have a gap (Vauxhall for example) which wouldnt work on your car.
But, if you do not have the roof rails fitted, sorry, I am at a loss to help out.
All the best, GaryTheSnail.

Don't make the same mistake as what I did. I measured my rails at the front of the car where they were narrower, so the back one was only juuuuust long enough

You do really need to try them out on the car. I kept my Freelander ones when I sold it in 2004, and they were too narrow for my Qashqai, but they're the right width for my new Ignis. However the shape of the "claw" when opened isn't quite large enough to drop over the rail and I can't see how I could get them on.

With some bars(Thule), you can use the same bars and just get a new "foot pack". Ebay has them secondhand and sell your old ones on there as well so little cost involved.

Bladders, this subject has been widely covered before so it might help you to just enter “Roof Bars” in the “Search” Area LH Corner and take a read of the several old posts, hopefully you will find something there that might help - Dave :)
