Qashqai Model: Mk.2 Qashqai Facelift - J11b (2017–2021)

Post by Japete14 »

Hi I am new to this forum. I have a 2017 Qashqai 1.2 n connecta in Nightshade bought from new. Loved it until a week ago when it wouldn’t start!!!! Tried everything in the manual . Local dealer was closed due to Xmas so had to call out breakdown. He unplugged battery and reset but said if you’re going out in it make sure someone keeps it running till you get home😫
3 days later dealer told me it needed a system update and it should be ok. There was no warning ???? Has anyone else had this problem please? I am due to travel north once or twice a week to babysit grandchildren and can’t risk it happening again.

It could be a faulty battery.
It is in guaranty still so drop by the dealer and ask them to check the battery also and not only put it on a system update.
Did you get a warning message "system fault"?
Hope all will be fine.
I busy with my 3rd Qashqai and never had a problem (knock on wood).

Japete, the QQ Battery Problem has been one of the biggest discussion points on the Forum. The attached is a recent post but the problem was the original J11A model with Fiamm Batteries but now it appears as reported the new J11B model is suffering similar problems. As Michel mentioned it is under Guarantee so get down to your Nissan Dealer and let them sort it out for you - Dave 😉

I came out of the store two months ago. Car wouldn't start. RAC called ran computer test on battery as he was confident it was a battery issue. The battery was charging but at a rate that meant it was faulty or basically near dead. The battery I had was a Renault issue. As mine was under warranty I got a straight swap. As luck would have it the RAC tech had just come out with brand new Nissan batteries straight from Japan. Stronger and better. As mentioned already this is a known fault. Insist on a diagnostic and a battery change. I had a friend who's battery went as she pulled away. No brakes nothing. Fortunately she rolled to a halt without incident but it shook her up. Mine is a 66 QQ Tekna 1.2. CVT.

Hi Thank you all for your responses. I haven’t had any problems lately so hopefully it is sorted. I had heard about the battery problem bu my dealer said it was on models older than 2015!!!. Mind you he also pointed at all the cars on the lot and said none of these have been a problem😫 Probably because they were all brand new cars and hadn’t been run🤣🤣. I’ll see if I have any more trouble.
Also there was no warning that a system update was required.
