Hi the Qashqai is pretty rare in Australia hardly any Nissan adverts for it.
i have a 2016 TI model auto the electronic handbrake does not come on when you stop the car you have to manually apply it.
So my question is as the handbrake does not apply can i change the brake pads like a normal car?
Thanks guys and girls.

Hi Sorry, brake pad questions are way above my pay grade. Interesting though that you think Qashqai's are pretty rare in Oz. Looked on CarSales and there around 1400 for sale versus around 8300 on UK Autotrader website, but there are about 2.5 times more people in UK. Clearly more popular in total numbers and per capita in UK but Qashqai's don't seem rare to me here - I see plenty around where I live (Sunshine Coast). P.S. Also married to a Geordie!

To change pads a Nissan Dealer will use his software to release.
But see attached from earlier thread.

I believe the front pads are easy to change as e-brake applies to rears. I read on the forum somewhere that you can change the rear pads without the software as follows:
You don't need any pc software to pull pistons back. Just take off the brake motor from the caliper and turn motor coupling with Torx t40 bit. This will back up the mechanism. Now you can use the old-style press the pedal to press the piston back into place.
I haven't tried this so can't vouch for it but it does seem fairly logical assuming removing the brake motor from the caliper is a reasonably simple job. It would also be much safer having first disconnected the battery.

AUD 660 = £353.36 - ouch!
Nissan in the UK have (supposedly) fixed price repairs - and they're quoting £260
Rear pads only is £120

I say "supposedly" since the dealer I used to use charged more than Nissan's fixed price for services...
