Parcel shelf troubles.....

Parcel shelf help!
I have a 68 plate tenka and the parcel shelf it the bane of my life!! Every time I put it back on I drive for a few miles, maybe go over a bump or turn a corner ;you know usual driving things!) and when I open the boot the damn thing has come off it’s lugs and is just hanging from the two cords....!
Took it to Dealership and the technician said “that’s a bit annoying, but just kind of how it is, bit of a bad design I guess..”
The car has been recalled for a potential fault in the radiator so am taking it back to the garage next week so am going to get them to look at it again and check it’s the right part!
Wondered if anyone else has experienced this at all?

Obiwal2019, we have had our QQ J11A for over 4 years now and never had a problem. I would expect that this design has not changed (could be wrong) on the J11B, check over the Diameter of the Rod and the location in the Parcel Shelf. As the QQ is new and if there is a problem then it should be corrected under Guarantee - Dave

Well if its different on the j11b then i haven't noticed. Afaik its the same as its always been and i too have never had any such issues either.

Never had any problems with my parcel shelf coming adrift either and had the car nearly 4 years. It does annoy me when you take a vehicle back to the dealer for something and they come out with such daft comments, hardly good customer service is it.

Pandjh, your parts appear to have more wear damage then ours are you really sure there is a difference ? The reason being is our J11A looks the same as your pics IMHO. I have just removed our Shelf and refitted it and it is as it was in 2014 - Dave

DaveBerlin, i might be thinking back to my j10, maybe even my wife's old car... or perhaps its just old age. I thought they had barrel shaped, rubberized 'joints' before. As for wear damage, that'll be the wife and her numerous shopping trips!

Hi thanks for the responses! Honestly is driving me mad, seems like it’s got way too much wriggle room...so when it is snug one side, it is barely on the lug the other side.
Still has part number sticker on it. Does anyone know where to check this is the correct part?? Want to go in as armed as possible to the dealer next week!
