Hi mort77, imho opinion i would be on the lookout for clutch judder, dab radio woes well documented here (with a long overdue fix promised) and that the VIN number is outside the range of engines affected by the, again, well documented here Oil loss/engine killing issues. There are plenty of good/great QQs out there, just make sure the one ur looking at is one of them.

Omg just been looking into these engines and all i can say is "wow"......they seem like an absolute nightmare.i think we may have to steer clear.such a shame because its a fabulous looking car with lots of really nice features.
Are the 1.6 petrol engines any good? Or do they suffer the same issues too?

Mort, do not give up !. Ours is also a 1,2L 2014 model and we have never had a Blip with an Oil Problem, after the Problems here I Check the Oil Level Regularly and have never added any only at Service Oil Changes. It appears that a Bad Batch did get through and Yes there were Big Problems but do not forget normally on Forums the Bad Points are mentioned more often. The problems were related to the 1,2L not the 1,6L.
You just have to be very careful and look at the Service History etc as there will obviously be no Nissan Warranty (Dealer Warranty ?) as you do not want to give good money away and then be stuck with a Dud - All the Best Dave

Thnx Dave.the one we are looking at is a 64 plate that was a motability car.it has a couple of services from nissan itself and then a couple from motability so i guess if there is a problem nissan wont be interested as its not been serviced by just them.
I guess it all comes down to the vin number now.i will pop up there at 9am and have a look.

Quick update.the garage tells me its had an engine change at nissan.i ring nissan who confirm its had a recon engine put in on the 7th of june with all new stronger parts but with no extra warranty.
What to do?

Personally speaking I'd see that as a positive. Lightning doesn't strike twice etc. If you bought a 64 plate privately the engine could be in any condition, at least this one has been installed and tested by Nissan techs.

If you are desperate for a warranty, they can be bought. There are a lot of warranty companies on line.
Past cars Mercedes B Class, S Class, E Class Estate, E Class Coupe, G Wagen, 260E interspersed with Peugeot 406 and Audi Coupe.

I'd check this VERY closely.
This problem didn't affect me so I only briefly look at post w.r.t. the 1.2L engine but if I remember correctly Nissan were installing NEW engines under warrantee.

Unlikely - my 15 plate was well within. I sold before any problems surfaced.Pandjh wrote: โMon Jun 17, 2019 9:05 pm Hi mort77, imho opinion i would be on the lookout for clutch judder, dab radio woes well documented here (with a long overdue fix promised) and that the VIN number is outside the range of engines affected by the, again, well documented here Oil loss/engine killing issues.
