Hi there

Long time lurker here! We've had a '10 plate 1.6 diesel for around 3 years and have been pleased with it so much we're looking to replace it with a newer model. Looking at "14/15 plate 1.2 petrols(we really don't do the type of mileage to warrant a diesel) I'm aware of an issue with some 1.2 petrols and will be asking the dealer for confirmation that this particular one isn't affected.

Is there anything else that we should be looking for?

Welcome (eventually) to this forum!

"Your" car is noted as having a "Panoramic opening glass sunroof" - none of the J11 roofs opens (though the blind does - check it works).

I'd take along a printout of the relevant service bulletin just so they understand you know what you're talking about:



Also check whether the battery and AC condenser have been replaced.

You might like to check the navigation date but may not be able to get them to update.

Never thought about printing off the bulletin, I'll make sure I do it.

I presume there's been problems with AC and batteries? I'll scour the forum and see what I find.

AC condensers frequently fail - mine did at 2.75 years

The FIAMM batteries were often replaced - mine was at about 1 year

I also had an alloy replaced owing to corrosion but the Acenta ones should be fine.

I also had a bush replaced in the steering - it was making a noise in the cabin when turned.

I'll certainly check the AC and the battery. Mate of mine has just bought a '17 QQ and he said that the salesman let slip that Nissan made batteries for a while but they were rubbish!

Our steering squeaks/grinds a wee bit as well.

The problem batteries were FIAMM - mine was replaced by a Nissan one

Well that was disappointing! Went by the dealer and there were no Qashqais there. Still up on their website though.

Went to another dealer and looked at this one https://www.arnoldclark.com/used-cars/nissan/qashqai/1-2-dig-t-acenta-premium-5dr/2014/ref/arnbz-u-29506 bodywork was rough, scratches and dents as well as a cracked rear lens that was full of condensation! Tried to start it, flat battery! Jumped it, ran well enough but tried the AC and it was blowing warm!

Walked away.

We'll keep looking, we're in no big hurry to change, just that our location means we have little choice where we live and have to look when we go away.
