I have just completed 1000 miles in my new car and am very pleased with it. The 1.3 engine is amazing. it doesn't need revving to give brisk acceleration and runs incredibly quietly. I have already enjoyed trying out all the gizmos and have had good results with the adaptive cruise control, not sure about the adaptive steering, our white lines keep going missing!

The only regret I have is the 19" wheels. I now understand reviews which I've read saying they give a hard ride. The car I took on a test drive had smaller diameter wheels and was definitely a smoother ride. However, I'm impressed with the tyres fitted, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 which I understand are about the best tyres you can get.

This is my first post, I'm sure there will be many to follow.

Welcome Foffer, i found the new 19" x 225 wheels to actually be smoother than the 18" x 215 wheels on my 2015 QQ. I agree though, its a great engine.

Also a very pleased new Qashqai owner. I had a 2016 1.6 Dig-T N Connecta previously with 18" wheels and I found the ride quite hard and noisy. :| I now have the 1.3 Tekna 160 with 19" wheels Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres and it is a lot quieter and better ride. :) I have just done my second fill up today ( full tank to fill tank) which worked out to 39mpg compared to my old 1.6 at 32mpg :D :D

Thanks all for replies. I did check the pressures on the first day, they were all from the factory at 39 or 40, so I let them down to the specified 35psi. I am very interested in the "quieter and better ride" on 19" comment. Maybe the car is all a bit stiff because its new? I'll wait a few thousand more and have a rethink.

Check the plaque on the driver's door frame - does it say 35psi all round?

For example this one says 33/30

Thank you very much gloucester for pointing this out to me. I was taking the TPMS target pressures on the driver's display as gospel instead of reading the label you refer to, a schoolboy error! Mine is the same as yours so as the load will only ever be light my tyre pressures are now 33 front and 30 rear. I have adjusted the target pressures on the dash to this now.

Must be smoother ride now!

I am interested to hear comments on road noise on 19 inch rims.
Just bought a 2018 QQ Tekna and finding the road noise unbearable on some road surfaces.
Dealer doesn't seem interested to help, now he has my money.
Should I consider changing to a small rim size, if so what is best? 16 or 17 inch?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Kalyan, there has been a lot of discussions on this subject which are most probably personal comment, some have no problems some do. We had a Tekna with 19” Alloys for 5 years and for us they were not a problem and if there was the wife would mention it with her back problem. Out here there are still many Cobble Stone Roads and yes then you feel the effect. Here is an old post for information and there are more if you use “Search” and play with the title. Our new J11B has 17”Winter Alloys on at present and I have no experience yet of the new 19” Wind Alloys as they are stored now - Dave 😏
