Just wanted to say hello. I’ve just bought my first Quasqai and so far so good, she looks gorgeous and drives like a dream. All I need to do now is get my drive levelled because she doesn’t want to reverse out (uphill) and I can’t get the hang of it despite the fact I can do it elsewhere! 🤦‍♀️ I know I could reverse in but then I won’t be able to get out due to the next door neighbours wall and visibility is very poor as I’m looking into the sky. Isn’t life a learning curve? Lol
All I want for Christmas is a proper handbrake 😬

Welcome to this forum.

Once you can used to it the "handbrake" is great! You won't want to go back...

Just put it in reverse & drive back. No need to find the biting point anymore. Handbrake releases itself.

Hi Noddy,
That’s the problem, the hand brake releases itself! Sometimes its rolling down towards the house instead of reversing off the drive, it’s like a game of jeopardy! I’ve lived in this house a long time so I’m well used to reversing all manner of cars (including a variety of Nissans) up it and I’ve never had this problem but then I’ve never had an electronic handbrake before.

I had the same problem initially with a drive and its downhill slope....30 degrees. You need to practice by selecting a gear and fairly rapidly engaging the clutch. Get a bit rough/snappy with it....don't be too gentle. Be ready with the foot brake if it stalls. Do that a good few times till you get it right and stay away from close fences/walls when doing it.

I usually press the HB button down and lift off smartly from there. I do that because I want the system to release in conjunction with my clutch action and not hang about releasing automatically. Like the old HB lever action. Sometimes there is a slight delay in auto release...I don't believe such systems are perfect every time. But thats just me!

I don't understand how the handbrake releases itself ?
It only releases when a certain amount of pressure is applied to the rear wheels. This happens as you try to pull away. So if you're pulling away in reverse, then it can only happen at the moment you start to move backwards. It would only then roll forward, if you dip the clutch.

I think its a case of clutch dipped and throttle pressed = HB off. If you dip the clutch again the car will be free wheeling either back or forwards. Is that whats meant above?
