Not QQ related but I could not really believe when I read this that the Metro was first introduced 40 years ago. We had a couple of these the normal Basic and then the MG Metro Turbo which was not a “Boy Racer” model but adequate. Attached is an old Post and I am sure a few other members had one of these older BMC designed Metros - Dave

The MG Metro Turbo did have some design support from Lotus Engineering, it had a 1275cc 4 Cyl. Engine with a modest 93 bhp and a Garrett Turbocharger. Gearbox was a 4 Speed All Synchromesh / 0-60 mph in 9,9 secs / Max Speed 112 mph. Additional features included powerful servo assisted brakes using four pot (piston) calipers and ventilated discs up front. The Turbo also came with a bodykit that provided a front spoiler and four wheel spats to go with the MG Metro rear spoiler and this together with the use of Turbo only specific larger 13” alloy wheels and low profile tyres the individual look was enhanced considerably.

I bought a 1983 (Y reg) MG Metro In Cinnabar Red. My first brand new car. It was only 3 months old when one day, stationary in a line of traffic, I was hit up the back by an Ice Cream van! I was shunted into the back of the car in front, and my poor little Metro was squashed. No injuries, apart from a bit of whiplash, and a lot of ice cream cones strewn over the road! I then went on to buy an MG Maestro, with the old talking computer, what a car that was!
