Ten Years of Nissan LEAF Sales - Dave 👍
“Nissan today celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Nissan LEAF electric car and the delivery of 500,000 LEAF vehicles since the model was first introduced. Produced at plants in Japan, the U.S. and the U.K., the zero-emission Nissan LEAF is sold in 59 markets around the world. After reading this it might well be worth getting hold of a 2nd Hand Leaf in the UK if there are so many Free Charging Options still around - Dave 😋 😉

“The majority of the chargers across Scotland were free and I think in those first three years, I saved about £5,000 equivalent of what I would have been paying in diesel". The devices which she relied upon are no longer free for everyone to use, but Radio 4's You & Yours has found that free charging is patchy but still widespread. The electric vehicle (EV) charging website, Zap Map, show that of the 21,267 public charging points in the UK, more than one in five of them (4,928) are currently free to use.”

In the area around the borders of Manchester and Stockport we have a number of Tesco stores. Most of the stores have a few charging points and all the points my partner has tried have been free. Admittedly we have to dawdle around getting the shopping and occasionally get a coffee (they all have a Costa outlet) which we drink in the car but for a 2 hour free charge it’s worth the effort.
We haven’t ventured onto the motorway system with the Leaf yet but looking forward to giving it a try.

Mike, some more reading matter to keep your Partners Leaf on the road, it might be of interest to you - Dave 😋

“The Department for Transport also revealed this week that Scotland is ahead of the rest of the UK in terms of availability of public devices, though highlighted uneven distribution of them across the country. A total of 4,270 new charge points were added to the network in 2020, an increase of 26 per cent. And of the 20,775 plug-in points now available, 3,880 are judged to be 'rapid' devices, with a 37 per cent increase in installations in the last 12 months.”
