There are a few articles around with similar content hopefully there is sufficient info’ here to chew over - Dave 😉

“Nissan has announced ‘EV36Zero’, a new GBP 1 billion (around EUR 1.17 billion) flagship EV Hub centred around the Sunderland (UK) plant. The company has allocated a new EV to this factory as part of the transformational project, and it has released a teaser of the upcoming model’s concept version. The new Nissan EV looks like an SUV-coupe that is lower and flatter than the Nissan Ariya.
There’s a strong possibility that we are looking at the concept that will lead to the Nissan Leaf successor. If that’s the case, it should have low-spec, economic configurations costing between EUR 30,000 and EUR 35,000. Of course, with higher specifications (at a higher price).”

Yes, you could be right! Maybe full electric vehicles will take priority over petrol/mild hybrids?

I quite like the look of the new Toyota bZ4x (similar in size to the RAV-4). It also has an optional(?) solar panel roof which can replenish up to 1,000 miles of driving range per year!

"I quite like the look of the new Toyota bZ4x "
Nice ... this new EV Toyota is going to disrupt the EV market for sure.
But I like the looks of this new Nissan EV even more ... IMHO futuristic looking, yet stil 'coupe' and 'sporty'.
Unfortunately this may not be the final look ... as most concept cars do look far nicer than the car that goes on sale !?
I wonder how the new Nissan is going to look from the inside !?

I'm not surprised than a new leaf might look like a mini Ariya.

The Leaf is actually a much larger car than it looks at 4490mm long!

Or to put it another way, the Ariya at 4595mm is only 105mm longer than a Leaf! And the Leaf is nearly 100mm longer than a Qashqai!

The Leaf is also 790mm longer than my Ignis so plenty of "room" for a smaller EV in the range - say 4000-4200mm.

What's more interesting is what I was reading in Autocar this week that Nissan have ceased development of petrol engines meaning they're not looking at having a Euro7 compliant car in any range - and that the Micra will be discontinued since manufacture of small cars is not economically viable any more. But look out for a possible simpler smaller EV below the new Leaf.

"Nissan have ceased development of petrol engines"
Talking about a big gamble !
In the UK, Norway, The Netherlands sales of ICE cars will indeed stop maybe even before the end of the decade.
But in many other countries ... I am not so sure about that.
If people read that the J12 QQ engine is truly end-of-the-line then dunno what they will make of that !

I think this week's mention was based on this article from May

In my country you have 2 major type of customers... Those that get a company car couldn't care less since they don't pay much for their cars and nothing for gas nor electricity. Then there are the poor (older) souls like me that would better wait it out under these uncertain conditions and drive their older cars until the engines fails.
EV is as difficult a choice for nissan as it is for us customes!

MMM are Nissan following BMW into making ugly cars. Some will love this others leave it a personnel choice for myself will leave it. Thought this was suppose to be a complete new vehicle from the ground up the shape just rings of so many other car parts thrown together. Their always will be change happening in the motor industry have no doubt to what degree as a customer you will except it is up to you.
