Took my driving lessons in a Datsun sunny I think it was but it may have been a different model. After 31 years of never having sat in a Nissan since I hired a Rogue in the USA to drive around Arizona and up and down the coast to San Fran

My first job after leaving school was in a garage; I remember working on a "bright' orange one of these and it needed some welding for the MOT ....... should have taken the carpets out before we started though. No serious damage, we had the fire extinguisher on stand-by.
Really?
Omg Donkey, you are still a young whippersnapper. Our family car when I was a child was an Austin A35 and there was usually me, my parents, my aunt and my nan who travelled in this car as well as all our luggage. It seemed perfectly big enough to me at the time but when I see them now (not that there are many about!) they are tiny.
Yes they were tiny, my first car a 1959 Ford Anglia looks so small now when you see them at shows. At least you could get them in your garage without turning your wing mirrors in and you could leave them in parking bays without somebody dinging your side as they swing open doors, because new cars are too wide for parking bays

I agree cars have got bigger but are parking bays suitable for modern cars? When a new parking space is created, why don't they allow for "bigger" modern cars, after all as you already stated you don't see many of these older, smaller cars on the road.....

They do not make them bigger because they want to squeeze as many cars in as they can to make more money. A classic example at a hospital overflow charging car park nearby. You struggle to get out of the car without rubbing your door against cars parked by your side. I would not want to leave my car here, and there is no excuse for not making the spaces larger apart from profiteering, as the car park was only created last year.

you guys are lucky as a youth i inherited a Datsun 100Atell you what it would give a modern car a run for its money in the economy race and bad news was so reliable I had no reason to take on the debt like all my mates with there Capris and EscortsI gave that to my sister after 2 years no idea what she done with it id wager it still on the road
