As with all warranties, check the "what is not covered" very carefully. Most warranty companies can get out of anything by saying it's "wear and tear".

On my previous QQ, I went for an ultimate plus package which included wear and tear. Covered everything other than serviceable items.

Great I thought, especially when one of my brake calipers seized at a cost of £550 repair. No problem, got the warranty.

Found out it wasn't covered. In the section on brakes it said "everything brake related covered expect worn pads, discs and seized calipers".

After a month spent trying to find out details of the Nissan Extended Warranty, being passed from pillar to post, I've eventually managed to get a quote.

A month ago I asked the dealer at the (early) three year service for details - they couldn't find any and promised to send details through.

Two weeks ago when the £800's worth of warranty works noted above was carried out I pointed out I hadn't received any details of the extended warranty and "I've been away for a week!" was the lame excuse. Again they couldn't find details.

I complained to Nissan via Facebook and quickly had a response. They said: "We're sorry to hear you've not received the extended warranty details that you've requested. Please contact our customer care team on 0330 123 1231 and they will look into this. Lines are open 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and 8am-2pm Saturdays."

I rang that number - took two goes to get through. I was given another number to ring - 0844 573 8022 - I complained about the fact that was a premium rate number and that I shouldn't have to pay to find out the required information.

Googling revealed that the current number for Nissan Extended Warranty Administration is not that but 0344 573 8022 so I rang that. They politely but firmly said "Nothing to do with us mate - only dealers can give you details - we just administer on behalf of Nissan". This is despite the fact that number is mentioned on https://www.nissan.co.uk/ownership/niss ... ranty.html

So back to the dealer and eventually after a LOT of button pushing they found the details on their website. For my 1.2DigT Tekna on 19,500 miles the quote was starting 29/06/2018:

One year/80,000 - £377
Two years/100,000 - £747 (that's an extra £370)
Three years/125,000 - £1207 (that's an extra £460)

I've now discovered the "small print" at assets.nissan-aftersales.co.uk/Care_Warranty_Handbook.pdf

Anyway the end result is that regardless of the fact I've now got these figures, I'm fed up with Nissan and have been to a Suzuki dealer - test drive on Wednesday...

The document I've been given - see above for link - states quite clearly in the exclusions:

Brake friction materials, discs and drums

Neither the word seized nor the word caliper appear in the document.

The extended warranty on my previous QQ was with a 3rd party company, not the Nissan one, as it was already > 3 years old when I bought it.

I did it at the time the 3 year original warranty was about to run out £297 for the first year. I checked the exclusion list and consider it fair. Just got some extra piece of mind now. Nothings cheap is it.. to fix one pad of the seater heater for example is £230. The QQ appears to me to be a car that requires a few extra trips to the garage, so it seemed to make sense.
