This Mobile Phone Detection Warning System has just been launched by Westcotec and is creating interest. At present this is planned as a Warning System not an Enforcement yet ! - Dave ;)
Could this be the „Tool“ to stop and prevent accidents and deaths due to phoning and texting when driving with a device in the hand ?

I wonder how it would differentiate between phones being used for calls/texts and phones in use for navigation?

Hound, I got the same question from the Missus. It is mentioned on the attachment the use of „Bluetooth“ and then the possibility of mixing use by the driver or passenger, perhaps it needs some finer tuning but a 2nd Version is in the works - Dave ;)

That is quite clever, particularly that it can detect when a device is being used on Bluetooth

I call BS on this one. They tried the same thing round here claiming the speed camera could also detect when seatbelits weren't being worn, everyone laughed at them.

This might be the way to help prevent the use of phoning in cars, buy one of these - Dave 😊 😉

It is a step in the right direction there is a big need for some way of catching offenders considering there are not enough police to deal with this problem.
I see this problem first hand on a daily basis I even see HGV drivers texting and swerving onto the hard shoulder on the motorway, if you beeb at them you get abuse like your in the wrong.

What surprises me is so many people feel its fine to text and drive but would shout hang him if a drink driver killed some one.

It obviously is in its very early stages but we all know how fast these things can advance, catch em an ban em is my view

Terry, I could not agree with you more see it here also daily but if you try to inform you get lots of verbals and funny hand movements. I found this info‘ which is interesting as a comparison and that the U.K. is pretty hot on this subject - Dave 😲
