This appears to be the way things are going, just wonder if Nissan will come up with something similiar to this type of system - Dave :)

Hyundai is planning to replace car keys with fingerprint scans in the 2019 Santa Fe in China Q1 2019.
Hyundai has revealed a new fingerprint authentication system, allowing drivers to unlock and start their car using smart phone-style technology. Set up is similar to the process popularised by smart phones with the driver placing his or her finger multiple times on the starter button. The car maker says it’s installing capacitive fingerprint sensors in the car’s ignition and its door handle. Multiple users will be able to register their fingerprints and the car’s mirror and seat position settings will automatically adjust to the preferences of whoever’s in the driver’s seat, based on the fingerprint scans. Hyundai's system is capable of storing authentication details for two drivers, including three sets of fingerprints for each person.
Once the door has been successfully unlocked with a recognised fingerprint, the car can move the seat and mirrors to the driver's preset positions. Later, additional settings such as temperature controls will also be linked to users’ biometric profiles.
