Hi, I just purchased a 2015 Qq 1.2 N-Tec from a Nissan dealer. However, the car doesn't seem to accelerate! Sometimes on a 30 miles zone.it feels like you're doing 10 miles or on a dual carriageway feels you're doing 20 miles! I took it back to Nissan but they said not to expect much from a 1.2! They have looked at other issues like side mirror switch needs changing, distance sensor and door handle but told me the insurance needs to come and examine the car independently then make a decision whether to repair ir not as it will be costly. I'm surprised as I have 1 year warranty . My major concern was acceleration. As I bought it from Scotland they're a bit funny on repairing it.Any ideas???

Welcome to this forum.

0-60 should be around 10 seconds. What do you get.

Auto or manual by the way?

I've heard that the 1.2 is quite spritely.
Just wondering what gear you are accelerating in ?
I ask because I felt a similar problem this morning but realised I had the car in 6th and not 4th.
Dropping to 4th made a big difference.
Try to look up your "power curve" on the internet and see where your turbo kick in to action and where your maximum power arrives.

The 1.2 can be quite nippy depending on where you catch it, if you change from 1st to 2nd at the right point. I've found pulling away in 2nd can be quite a rush.

However, if already in 2nd and slowing e.g. at a junction, then you find it's clear and ram your foot down - nothing happens, quite often I need to change down to 1st again. Probably some kind of turbo lag.

Chris / Mike, I find this 1,2L Motor pretty quick, but the problem I found is to keep the Revs Up and use the Gearbox. I normally use around 2000-3000RPM when pulling away and find the QQ then pretty quick. On Hills then you definitely need to use the Gearbox - Dave 😊

Thanks guys! Mine is an automatic and haven't checked the power curve or how long it takes from 0-60. Need to start paying attention to detail. How can you investigate the turbo issues? Just cause we still under warranty but my local Nissan didn't even bother to do a diagnostic test or test drive it.

Power and torque detail is on this link.
Sounds like you need to smash your foot into the carpet to make progress

I had one dabble with an automatic Qashqai a few years back, and I never realised there was a soft limit with the accelerator pedal for a few weeks. i.e. when I thought I was pressing it to the floor, it was at about 70%.

It was only when I pulled out in the fast lane and saw something approaching behind me rather quickly, and jammed my foot down harder than normal, that it went through the 70% barrier. There's some kind of spring in the pedal that you have to press much harder than normal for it to release.

So check that first!
