Those Were The Days:

And that 2 way Pye Radio could cause serious discomfort to the passenger in a shunt!

I'm old enough to recall a Met police Daimler Dart pulling up outside a local shop on the Purley Way, Croydon;
Initially they had no 2 way radio fitted as they were so expensive (the car that is) ! :(

Gel, Thanks for that and I thought I was Old 😋 but this certainly brings back memories of when there was a lot of nice British Police Cars around. The MG’s, Riley’s, Truimph’s, Daimler Darts, Rover’s, Jaguar’s, Mini’s, Morris 1000’s, Morris 1100’s, Ford’s and on and on. I used to have a Mini Cooper S when I was “Young” and can remember getting pulled over by a not so friendly Dart - Dave 😉

Ha. ha; I had 2 Mini Coopers, but both were 998cc variant.
One was an Austin, which replaced an earlier Morris branded one.

Even though the thread is four years old, the nostalgia of vintage police cars and their unique features still resonates with enthusiasts. Looking back at the history of law enforcement vehicles and the technology they used can be a timeless discussion.
In those four years, the world has continued to change, but the charm of these classic cars remains evergreen. If you're interested in exploring more about vintage police cars, you can check out police auction sites.
It's remarkable to see how far we've come in terms of technology, both in cars and communication systems. If you're someone who has a passion for classic police cars or if you've had any memorable encounters with them, it's never too late to join in on the conversation.
