An update from the BBC news website this morning...
Greener petrol at UK pumps to target emissions - a more eco-friendly petrol could be introduced to garages in the UK from next year.
Current petrol grades in the UK - known as E5 - contain up to 5% bioethanol.
E10 would see this percentage increased up to 10% - a proportion that would bring the UK in line with countries such as Belgium, Finland, France and Germany.

This article has just arisen from the Beeb, I am still using the Super E5 (5% Ethanol) in the QQ as it appears to me that less customers actually use the E10, now whether this is because of possible engine problems (unlikely) I am not sure - Dave 😏

Current petrol grades in the UK are known as E5 and contain up to 5% ethanol, with the other 95% being regular unleaded petrol. Their replacement, E10, will see this percentage increased to 10%, a proportion that would bring the UK in line with countries such as Belgium, Finland, France and Germany.

Just a reminder that E10 petrol is set to be introduced from 1st September 2021 in most parts of the UK. It is now being widely advertised at petrol stations with posters on display.

There is a difference ... in vehicle performance, but also if your car is older, the risk is, IMHO, not worth the E10 price advantage.
I kept filling up my (10+ year old) car with OCTANE 98 E5 'super+' (as it is called here) for over 2 years now.

I was just going to report I've seen it at Tesco this morning - well in advance of the due date. You beat me to it. I was topping up the bike's tank so used E5 Momentum 99 anyway.

There are warning signs though not particularly noticeable.

The arrival of greener E10 petrol is just a month away but the AA has told drivers there's no need to panic buy fuel in August. - Dave 🤨

AA says don't panic buy fuel ahead of September switch to E10 petrol : https://mol.im/a/9844767

Yes, but don't you think it's time to ditch fossil fuels and move on to other greener things?
