I suppose this is just another recycled story on a quiet news day, I mean why dredge it up it in the first place from something that happened back in 2017.
If these were the older ( Pre AdBlue ) engines then Nissan wouldn't make changes to them anyway, especially as they knew the new AdBlue engines would be coming out in the near future.
Or maybe I'm wrong

Weasel, take a look, here are some of the older facts if you are interested. I tend to agree with your statement that the Ad Blue variations were in the Pipe Line therefore no upgrades on the old engines. Not good for the QQ owners of these engines though - Dave

The problem appears to be the extremely wide divergence from the test figure in real life.

Noddy, here is another critism on Nissan regarding the QQ Diesel Problem. But it appears Renault are reacting - Dave

However, sister brand Renault has taken action after a similar model was identified as producing too much nitrogen oxide in on-road emissions tests.

I forgot this article, it’s a little old now from the US so it is a little mixed with the facts, but where did the initial QQ Diesel Engines come from - Renault ! - Dave
“The Renault 1.5-litre K9K common-rail diesel engine, with a rating of 78kW (105hp). This is the engine which is produced in huge volumes at Renault's Valladolid plant in Spain. And by huge we mean in excess of 800,000 engines per year, in 2006, according to CSM Worldwide forecasts. It comes in 8 different versions, which are fitted in various Renault, Nissan, Dacia, Samsung and Suzuki vehicles around the world”.

Yes, Renault are/were offering a software update to cure the excess NOx, I wonder if they would install it on a Nissan
