Another disaster in the making. I have just seen a short message pop up on my iPhone regarding Nissan getting rid of over 12,000 Workers. Reason stated as Profit reduced by 94%. Now found the German Version on NTV News - Dave

Calnorth, you could well be correct I can only read up on the facts being a Brit out here. “Nissan has also been grappling with problems of its own. It has been losing market share in the United States and Europe. In the first quarter, for example, the company sold 351,000 units in the United States, giving it 7.9% of the market. It had 8.1% a year earlier. Nissan sales in Europe, including Russia, fell more than 16% in the quarter compared to a year ago” - BBC.
OK Sunderland missed out on the X-Trail Project, got 2 Infiniti Models cancelled but then they still have the Leaf and QQ and perhaps now the new Juke which will hopefully pull them through - Let’s hope the Sunderland Guys are Safe - Dave

If you watch Scotty on youtube you will see that the single biggest issue in the US re Nissan is quality. They like their auto engines over there so the infamous CVT has no doubt tarnished the Nissan name. Not sure bad US sales can be blamed on Brexit though?!?

Isn't it the case of foreign car manufacturers being subsidised big time to produce their stuff here...clearly not enough? Is a battle of the subsidies by the look of it and the EU spends our money to do it...Ford for one. Just wonder when they'll use the Silk Road railway to bring them in? And of course the crying of Greta et al will ensure energy makes us competitive??????????

"Nissan are considering this yes but it has nothing to do with Brexit. It's all to do with the free trade agreement Japan agreed with the EU the same reason Honda are closing the Swindon plant. These Japanese companies no longer need to build within the EU they can bring the jobs home and export them for free".

I was going to say that Uk foolishly let her industry fail...trouble is the stupid energy game won't allow it back?
