This new technology looks interesting for the future and perhaps the vehicles coming of the end of the production lines will be Defect Free - Dave 😁

UVeye’s first started designing systems for Israel’s Police, Security and Military used to check Vehicles. Then the Co. realized there were bigger options after discovering irregularities inside car bodies and problems such as oil, water leaks, cracks and rust. Now UVeye’s technology could become a major player in the automobile market, checking cars before they leave the factory or their entire lifetime, annual inspections or checked by an insurance assessors after an accident.

Now UVeye the Tel Aviv-based startup has raised $31 million from a Toyota Motors subsidiary, Volvo Cars, a U.S. insurer W. R. Berkley, FIT Ventures. Volvo and Toyota’s Tsusho unit are to use UVeye’s inspection systems at sites internationally, including Volvo’s factory dealerships. Volvo’s comments are that this developement is an advanced technology for the automatic external inspection and scanning of cars for damages, dents and scratches and that the technology has the potential to further improve the quality of cars leaving the factories and ensure that even tiny faults are detected. Volvo will no not only invest in UVeye, but are also looking at a pilot project with their technology later this year at their Torslanda plant. Of course, the technology could also be used during the various steps of the logistics flow and at dealerships.

UVeye uses digital cameras to detect external and mechanical flaws and identify anomalies, modifications or foreign objects whether they are in the undercarriage, the exterior of the vehicle and or in its tires. Using computer vision and artificial intelligence, UVeye’ s systems instantly read the scans to detect for anomalies.
The company says the scanning process can be completed in a matter of seconds even if the vehicle is travelling at speeds of up to 40 kilometers an hour.
