An interesting vote in confidence for the UK in Brexit Britain...

Especially with the addition of Renaults.

Indeed; that's where the X Trail was made I believe, before nearly coming to the N East, then Japan!
The continentals readiness to strike won't have helped their cause, allied to Sunderland's excellent efficiency. :)

Gel, I believe these are the Plants / Countries that manufacture the X-Trail, unfortunately Sunderland missed out - Dave 😉

Nissan builds the X-Trail in various factories across the world, with European-specification cars manufactured in Japan.
The main production for the Nissan X-Trail is in Nissan's facilities in Japan (Kanda, and Fukuoka), as well as Saint Petersberg in Russia, Dalian in China, Purwakarta in Indonesia, Serendah, Malaysia, Miaoli in Taiwan, Samut Prakan in Thailand, Tennessee in the USA, and Busan in South Korea. Parts and engines that are produced in Japan are also assembled by other Nissan plants in numerous countries.

Beginning March 2, 2015 sales of Nissan X-Trail of the third generation were launched in Russia. The production of cars is organized at the plant Nissan in Saint Petersburg. The engine range of the new car includes two 2.0 - and 2.5-liter petrol engines. Capacity of engines is 144 HP and 171 HP respectively.

Here we go again “The UK's largest car manufacturing plant is "unsustainable" if the UK leaves the European Union without a trade deal, owner Nissan says”. - Dave 🤨

It probably raised expectations in N.E England and elsewhere. Their Business Plan dictates and likely any gathering of subsidy. I suspect we'd pay some of that. Better than dole money.

As I understood it a few years back French car makers shifted some operations to Spain. Awkward French Employment rules.

Additionally...some major changes may arise: (Hong Kong)

“Nissan warns its Sunderland plant with 7,000 staff will be 'unsustainable' if Brexit negotiators fail to strike an EU trade deal - days after saying it would stay open following global restructure” - Dave 🤨

I think I saw that couple of days back...Nissan CFO. Just popped up with political hand grenade threatening the UK. However, its not doing so well in Germany with the other dire political hand grenade.

"But calls for massive auto subsidies have cut across party lines, setting regions and other industrial sectors against one another as they all seek cash from the government. The subsidy plans for an industry that employs around 800,000 people have also energised those who say the coronavirus crisis offers a chance to take the green option instead and really fight climate change".

Klimakrise...I certainly understand and there ain't a crisis....just political disruption.

Colin, if you so interested in what is happening in Germany here is what was discussed on the 3rd June regarding the Auto Industry & the Rest - Dave 🤨

Germany agrees a fresh $146 billion stimulus plan to fight the economic impact of coronavirus, days after the EU's record-breaking proposal | Markets Insider :

The Daily Mail gets knocked out by my Ad Blocker Dave. And I guess there's going to be plenty of slashed prices everywhere shortly. In UK the shops have a lot of expensive tat to get rid of. Not sure if enough money is going to be about even with the slashed prices attractions. Cranking costs with Climate junk will make it worse and the related beggars are pushing.

Its a very troubling time now that Nanny states have tried to disrupt a virus. The slashed prices are not much good if we suffer another (2nd) bout of Lockdowns. The reality of business failures is yet to come.
