Contains actual incident video...clearly:

"A Tesla on autopilot crashed into the roof of an overturned truck in Taiwan on Monday, prompting concern about Tesla autopilot’s ability to recognise visually confusing obstacles".

Credit to Tesla given.

Other reports on this I read earlier suggested that Autopilot may not have been turned on. And hence it was just driver error.

Note that corroboration of this is the fact it also didn't react to the pedestrian.

The driver actually stated he was using “Autopilot” before Braking. This system appears to be very similiar to the Nissan ProPILOT System, I tried this on a Nissan Demo Run and I have used this on our QQ and definitely it does appear to work right up to the Braking / Stop of the obstacle, but I cannot naturally confirm if this works 100% and I do not particularly want to try it - Dave 😁

I thought it was brakes..someone in the comments was on about white powder and there is some white deposits/marks? onward to the lorry.

You simply wonder about that incident. No idea if an inquiry would follow in either case of fatality or not. Whether we could trust anybody in that part of the world to conduct anything of integrity. Dunno...!

Check out the video from the other direction - no brake lights - but you then can clearly see the brake lights of the following vehicles...

... and it's surprising that the airbag didn't deploy either!

It appears that Tesla are appearing to be reacting to some of the criticisms of their “Autopilot” Features. This is not related to this accident problem though - Dave 😏

“Tesla is continuing to improve Autopilot’s abilities in both documented and undocumented ways. Just recently the system has gained two new capabilities: detecting stop lights and detecting lane change intention from other cars.
Lane change detection : In the last few weeks, some drivers have noticed that Autopilot seems to be detecting lane change intention from other cars, then slowing down to let other drivers change lanes in front of it.”

Tesla Autopilot now gives red light warnings & right of way for lane changes - Electrek : https://electrek.co/2019/03/23/tesla-au ... e-changes/
