My car is currently in a Nissan garage with system faults..
Mines is a 2016 Qashqai tekna. 1.5

Faults that have came up
Please note the car has not started since loss of power

Errors it's displaying are:

Stop/Start System Fault
Low Oil Pressure
Service Due (Had one in feb 2021)
Collission Detection
Key System Fault

At the moment Nissan master tech cant find fault, they have run a diagnostic test and came back fine so putting it down to a possible split in a wire (needle in a haystack)
My car isn’t under warranty and there charging £90 an hour.
Car lost all power on motorway last weekend whilst in with two kids, luckily I was in left lane and was able to pull straight over god knows what would have been like in lane 3, it came up the low oil pressure issue and has never started again.
Had to get recovered home, then recovered to Nissan dealer. This was Tuesday now Friday and they still Hackney found fault.
This is going to cost me a fortune (quoted £90 an hour labour) but I’m wondering if this is a possible common Nissan fault as I have seen in a few forums that Nissan wiring is rubbish.
This is not due to human error considering was driving on a motorway at 70 mph at the time.

Does anyone know if I can fight Nissan for this?

These things are often cited when there are battery issues - numerous people have had batteries replaced - but your issues sound more serious. Let's see what the techies can suggest.

The diagnosis procedure should have revealed error codes (DTCs). Without them we are guessing.

Low Oil Pressure needs urgent investigation. And I've not seen that problem mentioned on this site. What does Nissan say about that specifically?

The other warning lights are spurious unless we know what error codes were detected and the oil problem has been identified/rectified.

They got back to me yesterday and said that the diagnostic test came back with no error codes and they think it is a possible split in a wire somewhere.
So they will have to check all the wires.

There was a post on here form 2016 with same faults thrown up as mines and he had to get a new wiring loom fitted as couldn’t find the split wire.
I was unsure if his was under warranty so his may have been covered

Do you know anything about the Oil Pressure warning...or have you asked them? Its a worry.

The sudden system failure is serious. Does the starter motor turn the engine?

They only said that there was no faults came up.
I have spoken with a Nissan mechanic that used to work in that branch that my car is in and he said that it may throw up random fault if there is a split somewhere.

I only want to know if anyone things I may have a case against Nissan if this is not an issue caused by myself.
This could have ended in disaster if I completely stopped in lane 3 of the motorway

Throwing faults should show up as errors. You mention some:

Stop/Start System Fault
Low Oil Pressure
Service Due (Had one in feb 2021)
Collission Detection
Key System Fault

Start/Stop generally relates to functions where the engine cannot be controlled properly plus brakes and emissions out of spec.

Battery (poor performance/capacity)
Exhaust (emissions)
ABS (Brake system control faults)
Fuelling

Wiring harness problems I don't believe are in any way common. There could be corrosion problems with connectors however.

I wouldn't think Nissan would admit responsibility since the car is fairly old (fair wear and tear). Major trouble with those cars would likely raise recalls fairly early on.

They might get to a good will deal though?

I honestly don't think you'll get anywhere with Nissan. It's reported bad enough getting them to sort the 1.2 engine or the CVT - even replacing condensors is sometimes an issue.

Update. Got car back 2 days ago, broken wire that was chaffing on gearbox.
12 days they had my car and in that time worked on it for a total of 3 hours!
Customer service shocking, I had to keep calling garage as had no updates….but mind you there was no updates because they didn’t start working on it till the day I asked to speak with the service manager
