I currently have a 1.2 Tekna manual but I am thinking of getting the same but the X-tronic in March next year.
I have never driven an Auto and I will of course have a test drive first but I probably can't organise one until a couple of weeks time.
Using the search I see that a lot of people did have problems earlier on but I presume these have been ironed out?
I would be interested to hear from current owners of X-tronic versions on whether they are happy with this aspect of it.

Hi Smokey01.
I am onto my second x tronic QQ (current one only a month old, previous one was only 12 months old when it went back) after always having a manual and would never go back! I see you have the 1.2 petrol at the moment but I would seriously consider the 1.6 DCI before opting for the same engine again. I always had the 1.5 DCI but the 1.6 DCI was always specifically made for the QQ, and wipes the floor with it! The extra power and torgue really make a difference. Hope this helps!

I have had a 1.6 cvt for 2 years excellent drive(pity about all the problems) but have now decided to go for the 1.2 cvt, (hope iam not making a mistake)
The 1.2 is over £2000 cheaper and with all the bad press with diesels, will the government hit diesel cars.

What do you mean 'pity about all the problems' is that related to the cvt ?

'manual' shift - push the gear lever across and forward to change 'up' pull back to change 'down' i use it to force it into 7th gear - at 60mph it sits in 5th affecting mpg - in normal driving no real benefit

Hi
I bought a nearly new 1.6 xtronic Tekna QQ in June this year. I love driving autos and previously owned a 2012 Astra 2.0 auto. I find the QQ's performance pretty good, perhaps not as quick a getaway as the Astra, but then it does have a smaller engine! Touchwood I have had no problems with the QQ and love the car to bits. I would never dream of going back to a manual gearbox, but do occasionally drive the wife's car which is manual, but only on short journeys. You may find the 1.2 a little under powered, but depends what performance you are looking for.
The only time you might need to use the manual part of the gearbox is when the roads are icy and you want to keep the car in a low gear for grip.
Anyway, let us know what you decide. All the best.
