Update time....

So it’s been a good 18 months since my daily driver was last polished and even with the best will in the world, weekly washes were starting to leave the odd mark or two. So time to decontaminate and spend some time polishing up and putting down some protection.

Other than a weekly wash, at the end of each month I’d coat the complete car with hydreseal (https://auto-glanz.co.uk/hydreseal.html). Because of the size of the car I found this to be the best way to protect it as it took very little time to apply (goes on like snow foam, wait 5 mins then power wash off).

So products and steps carried out this time:

Snow foam prewash - bill hamber Auto foam http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-a ... _1165.html
I’ve tried a few since my original post and although it might not be as foamy as others, it’s as cheap as chips and a good cleaner to boot.

A quick hand wash with an adams wash pad and some hot soapy water. When I wash the car I’m looking for something ph neutral that doesn’t do anything else, like wax or gloss enhancements. https://auto-glanz.co.uk/valeting-chemi ... ampoo.html

A couple of decontamination treatments:
Detar - Auto glanz spar tar https://auto-glanz.co.uk/wash/spar-tar.html
Iron remover - Auto finesse iron out http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine-an ... _1149.html

To be fair, due to the sealant the contamination levels were low but still worth doing before hitting with the clay bar.
Iron out sprayed on paintwork and wheels and allowed to “bleed out” before power washing off.
Spar tar was then sprayed on one panel at a time and the panel rubbed with a microfibre cloth which had also been sprayed with the product. Followed up with a power wash, then a wash with the remainder of the soapy water.

Clay bar - gilt hamber Auto clay http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detailing ... _1162.html
Still sticking with my favourite clay bar here. No need for any special lube with this one, just spray water on the panel and rub in straight lines.

I usually give the car one last wash and power wash rinse and this point just to make sure everything is off the car ready for polishing.

Polishing time.....and this time round I cleared a few days to cover this bit...
Breaking out the my rupes 3” and 5” polishing guns, I stared out hitting the panels with a medium rupes (green) pad and matching quarz polish.

Then refining with a fine rupes (yellow) pad and matching keramik polish.

Making sure that any black plastic trim or rubber was taped up, I ran a cross hatch pattern with the polisher do a single set of 4 passes on most panels and if there were any marks left I’d double this up.
When polishing was complete and all lacquer marks / light scratches were removed, the tape was pulled off and the panels were wiped down with 10% ipa.

Wax - angel wax enigma https://angelwax.co.uk/product/enigma-ceramic-wax/
Again I’ve tried a few since my original post, and this ceramic hybrid wax gives an amazing gloss finish while boasting upwards of 8 months duration. Put on 1 panel at a time, it was applied with a damp foam pad and then immediately buffed off.

Exterior plastic trim and tyres - car pro perl http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine-an ... d_932.html
Rubbed in neat with a microfibre cloth, restores and protects up to three months (a couple of weeks on the tyres). Such a versatile product i’ve used it diluted 5 to 1 on interior plastic trim and leather.

Window sealant - angelwax h2go https://angelwax.co.uk/product/h2go-the ... repellent/
I love this stuff and put it on the outside of every window, mirrors and pano roof. Clean your windows with your favourite glass cleaner, spray on the cloth and rub on to the glass then wait 10 to 15 mins before buffing off.

Anyway enough of the boring stuff....have some photos
