Had a lovely morning with donkey today, one of the headlight washers decided it no longer wanted to return back home after spraying the lights.

It's a bumper off job according to every one but I managed to get the washer out without removing the bumper ...... when I say managed I just managed at the cost of a lot of skin on my arm.

They unit wasn't broken just sticking a bit so took it off the car then took it apart as far as I could then a lot of silicone lubricant and a lot of in and out movement. Job done now returns home.

Lost even more skin refitting but only took about 45 mins with only a flat and Phillips screwdriver much quicker and less complicated than bumper removal

Last weekend i rubbed down, rust cured then painted all the bits of the front sub frame that i could get at . Was much the same as the rear , wasnt heavily rusted but there were bits where rust had made a home but not bad realy light rub down was back to solid metal.

If you guys plan on running your mk1's till something catastrophic puts it in a scrap yard then I'd suggest having a wee look underneath to see how it's looking as at a 13 plate I fought it Realy early and it was light work

Bgmick, regarding the “Skid Plates” my “Boss” the Wife made comments when we ordered our QQ in that they looked “Plasticy” in Silver so we got them sprayed to match the QQ color - Dave :)

I looks like the front skid plate there is a front and back plate as with the j11 model that you buy seperate and they attach with a couple of screws and 3M tape

Unfortunately from nissan on the j10 they didn't come a nice shiney silver , more of a faded airfix grey lol mine will be coming off next summer to be painted white .
Yes I have seen a set on a car and they were dull looking good idea to take them off and colour code them they look good on white as you can see from Daves

Thanks Dave I think the Grey looks good but I am really torn between black and grey, Like the black but thinking they may look to dark with the Ink blue.

If I remember correctly doesn’t the front trim need minor alterations for it to fit correctly?

Hi Bgmick
Do you have any pictures of the areas you painted or concentrated on as I’ve a Mk1 2013 model and it needs to last me a few years before I consider upgrade :D and did you use an aerosol or brush painted ?

My rear end and yours are totally different with mine being a 4wd model so I had a whole lot of sub frame on the rear , the front was a bit of a pain as I had to raise it a few inches to get room to get under it ,

Didn't do photos but if you look through your wheels you will see exposed front sub frame that's not covered by plastic panels and it will have some surface rust , it's the sides of the sub frame that's exposed that was the worst of the spray from the wheels, when I say worst it was nothing to write home about just worth tackling now and it will be golden for years to come.

When she's up you will see the majority of the front sub frame that's exposes will be pretty clean (I hope) there were just little blooms starting on the front edge of the rear as it's directly in line to be pelted by all the crap of the day on the roads .

Hard to explain but once you slide under you will see wee bits and bobs so I just rubbed down, k rust cured then painted with direct to rust hammerite , underseal would have been better but I had what I had lying around ....... like the white hammerite that's now on the calipers and exposed hub areas of the disks , they had surface rust and looked crap every time I washed the car , but not any more
