First mod, i made up some step plates for the kids.

Beeson, good thinking this will definitely help we did the same. There is one problem the Kids tend to climb everywhere and not always in the same place. I would recommend using some clear Plastic (Folie) Strips each side of your plate to minimise scuffing, cheap and simple - Dave

The plates should be fine and do the job.
