I have no LED comparison but the lights seem excellent and the dip works fine.

I agree the dip is excellent with good even illumination, but is main beam significantly dimmer with a distinct line where the two beams meet. It appears that the main beam unit is significantly underpowered!

The main beam does appear dimmer than the dip beam at close range but the long range is fine. These are the first LED lights I've had but the main beam initially seems poor but is actually very good when it has something to illuminate, where as a halogen light appears to show up better in the distance regardless of what's ahead. Rubbish explanation but difficult to describe................... The LED main beam seams to have the same power throughout its total range where a halogen appears to dim towards the farthest end.

It surprised me when I was driving in some big hills, went over a crest on a bend and saw the far side of a valley illuminate in the main beam.

Thanks "Switchback" and "PJB729" for your quick replies. The next service is due in March when I think I will get them checked whilst still under warranty!

I will try to post a photo or two that shows my dissapointment!

Perhaps have someone stand some way in front of you at night (when safe) and see how the difference in seeing them is; equally ask them how much brighter your QQ's headlights seem to them at a distance on low/full beam.

Hi everybody.I have a 2017 Nissan Tekna (diesel 1.5) and while I find the dip lights excellent I totally agree that the main beam being very disappointing for lighting distance especially on country roads, I am going to add some led driving lamps and would appreciate any advice on what to buy.

I honestly think you are expecting too much of them. They are very good, better than any vehicle ive owned before. Depending on your location, then ill bet any driving lamps you fit will fail any MOT or whatever the vehicle checks are called in your country. Just how much do you expect of them?

Thank you for you reply. I still think the main bean is not very good for.Any other car I had before had ordinary halogen and the lights were much better for showing distance on main beam. Its very easy to still see the dipped lights pattern even when on full beam. Most of my driving is on fairly narrow country roads and good lighting makes it much easier to see especially in the evening before it gets totally dark.

Guys, I dont think some of you are using the auto dip correctly and relying too much on it.

You dont need to dazzle the car comming towards you before you dip your lights, manual or automatic. You should be dipping before they get dazzled by your lights. If you can directly see their lights, there is a good chance you have already dazzled them and are bathing in your LEDs.

I just hope im missunderstanding some of your examples on how you use high beam.

Mine doesn't like lorries....and they don't like me!

If you are driving at night and there is a central reservation, I find sometimes the sensor cannot see the headlights of a lorry (obscured by the barrier) - the headlights carry on at full beam blinding the poor sod(!) so at times, I do have to intervene, however 99% of the time it is spot on!

@Nassin, 100% agree with you! I find the dipped headlights are excellent, the main beam on country lanes are not good, no distance at all. My previous vehicle was a 2005 Disco Mk3 with Bi-Xenons and they were truly amazing for country lane driving, wide illumination and distance too! Nissan, if you find a solution, please post back here! Thanks!
