This thread has been FAQ'ed. For clarity, the owners manual states the oil spec for the K9K and R9M engines: Genuine NISSAN engine oil 5w30 DPFACEA C4, SEA 5W30 Low SAPS Capacity (with oil filter change)K9K (Euro 5/DPF) uses 4.4L oilR9M uses 5.5L oil ***************************************I have been researching this and found that there are not too many options if you need the correct spec oil which requires 05w30 ACEA C4 Low SAPS. You can buy this from a Nissan dealer but I found one dealer trying to sell me ACEA C3!In the end I went down the Renault route and searched for their approved oils and came up with Elf Evolution which is 05w30 C4 Low SAPS. Purchased at a very good price from Moto-oil.co.uk and delivered next day. http://moto-oil.co.uk/elf-evolution-ful ... pf-fapHope this is helpful.

Does anyone use engine cleaner as someone on another forum said that the 1.5DCi Renault lumps will fail to start after a few oil change sunless you use the additives to clean the internals.

We have only just got our QQ so too early to say what is done at the service but with our old X-trail the dealer always used a cleaner at the oil change and expect they will do the same with our QQ when it gets a service.I gather that with the Renault-Nissan low emission diesels the servicing and maintenance is vital to avoid problems and the correct oil must be used.

Most manufacturers will "recommend" an oil produced by their partners - another organisation with which they have some vested interest. This may be sponsorship, partial ownership, cheaper prices on the bulk oil at the factory, etc. Makes sense for a French company, based in France (renault), to partner with a local oil supplier... saves on shipping costs too... m.
