My 2016 QQ due 3 year service (only done 23000 miles) + MOT next month. The Dealer is recommending an air con service for extra £99 on top of the £219 service + £54.85 MOT. Any views on if the air con service is necessary? seems a lot of money to me bumping up the service cost another £100 near enough?

Air-conditioning should be serviced every 2-3 years. £99 seems a reasonable price for a main dealer.

Jeffers, I have asked our Dealer about Servicing the Air Con System often but was told it does not need to be done due to our mileage, although we have had a new Condenser installed with Re-Gassing.
Attached is some information on the Nissan Servicing also stating £99 + VAT (yours is the *** cost) but be careful with the topping up as this new Air Con Fluid R1234yf is very expensive compared with the the older R123a - Dave 😉

I was offered an AC service at the two-year service. I declined - no point...

Jeffers, is the air on still providing chilled air when required? Is it still adequately taking the moisture out of the air to demise? If it is then there is absolutely no need to waste your money on an air con service. Do it only when it needs it. As for the air con system clean that costs around £20 with Nissan, this can easily be done yourself using an air con cleaner from a motor factor such as Halfords. It’s less than £10, and you can do it yourself in less than 5 minutes. The result is a very clean smelling interior and it lasts for months, killing most bacteria etc. Did mine just after Christmas and I can still smell it with the air con on.

going ahead with the £99 service after chatting to dealer about pros and cons and being assured this is a thorough going over of the air con.
He likened it a bit like having your central heating boiler regularly serviced even though it might be running without problems. Damned if you do damned if you don't I suppose.

Might have been a more helpful post if you had actually said what he said though

If you plan on keeping the car for a few years, then it's worth getting done.

There are always cheaper alternatives, but I guess it depends if you want things done properly.
