Handbrake issue

HI,
Any know if there are differences in the rear discs/drums from my 2012, 1.6diesel 4x4,.
Bought new shoes n pads, new discs, and new handbrake cables. All fitted easily enough. But, i cat get the brakes to stop biting and causing a severe banging sound. If i adjust them up to where the correct setting is, they begin to knock very hard, shaking the whole car.. If i release them just a turn or two back down, , the handbrake simply doesnt work at all.
Driving me mad this! I just wondered if there are any different shoes or whatever that would make work.
