Tyre change made impossible
When I recently had two punctures repaired the tyre fitter just shoved a trolley jack somewhere under the front and rear, not on the sill and jacked up. I don't know where he put the jack as I can't see any marks anywhere.

I have used a trolley jack without the block with no ill effect, I do not want to temp fate though.I basically copied the slot on the jack but this is not a precise art. it worked well.. I will have a measure of the seam in the light tomorrow.

the jack slot is 13/32 wide x 23/32 deep, the bottom of the slot is slightly rounded.PS) the total width of the support is approx. 1-7/8" I had a look at the jack point, the main seam run is 2x pieces of 1/16 with the jack points having and extra 1/16 thickness spotted onto it. If you include the under body coating thickness you have about 3/16" all up and the depth of the jack point is 13/16. Interestingly I jacked the tyre once and the protection is off back to metal.

Ok thanks for all the details but just to confirm should you jack up the car with the lift being on the bottom of the pinch weld (main seam) Jacking point .orshould the Jacking point seam sit in the slot ( i.e) and not touch the bottom. So the car lift is then either side of the seam Jacking point. This would be as per the J11 Jack above

I put the pinch seam within the slot. pictured here before I made the bottom round to seat within the jack round lift cup.seam is 13/16 (20.6MM)jack slot is 23/32 deep (18.3mm) As the seam is longer than the jack slot is deep it seems engineered to carry on the point of the seam and not on the flats of the sill. Hope that makes sense ? all at your own risk as I have. Cheers
Hi Langy, just read your post about the jack pad you ordered with the 15mm slot. Does it work? Just got my new J11 QQ and am dubious about using the nissan jack.CheersEd
It does work, the pad squishes a bit, but just keep an eye on it when you are jacking it up and it's OK.Ideally, you would want a pad that is a lot tighter to the seam (i.e. narrower deeper grove). They are only a few £'a, so if you don't think it's right for you, nothing is lost.
