I got 42,000 out of my Conti rears so you should get another 22k out of yours at least!

Out of interest, which part of the Nexen quality were you unhappy with? You'll be surprised to learn they beat the Conti's in 4 out of the 6 main test criteria on the tyre reviews website, and were beaten by only 1% or 2 % points on the other...
I am not making any criticism of Nexan tyres, just a great believer in the quality of Conti's or Michelin tyres. I suppose it goes back to my working days of company cars where I did 30k plus miles every year for over 30 years. The company always insisted either Conti or Michelin tyres were fitted, and in all those years only ever had one puncture, good mileage and felt safe with them.
Yup - my company cars also had to have Conti/Michelin tyres fitted as the leasing company insisted on OEM tyres being fitted - when you look into that relationship, you'll find there is a commercial incentive given by the OEM tyre manufacturer to have their tyres fitted to the car and this is really where the marketing kicks in - it gives an air of quality to the buyers and I'd raise an eyebrow at budget tyres being fitted to a new car - that said, I see Hankook are fitted to a lot of premium cars now and they 'used' to be perceived as a budget brand as did Yokohama (now standard fit on many high end sports cars!).

My QQ came fitted with the continental premium contact 2 tyres from new, I have now driven 15,200 miles on them, I am the only driver of the car.
I would say I drive normally, by that I mean I don't dawdle but I don't tear about either, I do like to keep my speed up in the country bends but basically stick to the speed limits.
mostly have 2 people on board with luggage
I drive on motorways 60%, A roads 20%, B roads 20%
I have just swapped the wheels fronts/ rears to even out the wear rate, so I can replace the tyres all at the same time when they are ready.
I checked the tread depth down to the TWI's when I swapped them.
Both fronts measured 3.8mm across the full width of the tyres.
Both rears measured 4.8mm outside edges, 5.0mm middle, 5.2mm inside edges.
I was impressed by the even wear of the tyres (especially the fronts) and the amount of tread left, something I have always struggled to achieve with other makes, even though I have always checked my tyre pressures regularly with a quality gauge.
I'm a little puzzled why the rears have worn at an angle (0.4mm) to the above measurements (anyone have any reasons for this?)
By my reckoning I should get another 15k+ before I have to replace them and they should all be roughly on the TWI's.
Overall I highly recommend the conti's and to sum up:
slight under steer
no noticeable grip loss or ride comfort after 15,000m
should get 30,000m
excellent grip all weathers
offer decent rim protection on my 18" wheels
very quiet
look good
9/10 for even wear
10/10 for longevity
no punctures so far touch wood
deal with the uk roads very well
i'm not going to comment on cost, only I know we can buy cheaper or gamble with other brands but why bother when they are this good.

My rears lasted 42,000 miles (I didnt front/rear them) so I think your estimate is probably about spot on if all things remain equal....personally, I found mine got increasingly 'crashy' as they got down to the 3mm mark and more road noise (not surprising as they are a big tyres and have a low(ish) profile. As for cost....people bother because they really don't want to pay twice the price for minimal (or in the case of Sport Contact 2's, worse) performance.

Continental Sport Contact 2
Dry Grip 84%
Wet Grip 75%
Road Feedback 76%
Progressiveness 71%
Wear 60%
Comfort 66%

Nexen N Fera SU1
Dry Grip 88%
Wet Grip 79%
Road Feedback 79%
Progressiveness 79%
Wear 82%
Comfort 86%

Taken from the TyreReviews website....

Interestingly, I wonder if anyone has been tempted to put a taller profile on the 19" tekna wheels as they look like they would wear them well and fill the arch better - I suspect you'd also start to enjoy some of the benefits the 17" owners have in them being less crashy etc.

Is it because they're made in €uroland??

Pirelli who make in UK considerably less:

Gel, again you seem to be making a critical comment about "Euroland" and I am assuming again your comments are directed at Germany. Putting Politics aside (incidently I was not allowed to vote) and looking at your facts. I would personally be prepared to spend out a lttle more on a good Tyre as against a cheaper option because of safety issues for myself and our QQ occupants - Dave ;)
Now your attachment from Asda gives a lot of price differences but when you look at the correct Tyre size 225/45 R19 96W you will find a Tyre price difference of around £14 each which x 4 = £56 which personally I would not argue over.
Conti Sport Contact 5 (which we have) @ £181 / Bridgestone @ £178 / Pirelli @ £167 per Tyre.

If you look at the attachment you will see who owns what and I believe Avon in the UK is now owned by Cooper Tires USA. Yes Pirelli do manufacture in the U.K. at Burton on Trent and Carlisle, Cumbria but Italian owned. I could be wrong so to me there is not a lot of options of obtaining real U.K. Types :

Just checked back my last tyre check on conti's

At 11350 miles
Both fronts across tyre were 5mm,
Both backs across tyre were 6.5mm.
That's decent I suppose given that the car was an ex rental and had 10600 on the clock when I bought it.
I think in the main tyres are a subjective subject, years back I twice tried mitchelin and hated then.
I felt the grip not the best and the wear was poor. It was an estate car I had at the time followed by a golf.
Will I buy mitchelins again, very unlikely.
I have used all brands but one stood out for me in respect of value/grip and wear. These were Falken.
I think a big issue with tyres is "how you drive the car"

Cheers
Bobby
