Most of us are used to checking our Tyre Tread depths with the edge of coins, hand held digital devices or just a mechanical depth gauge that measures one tread depth at a time. Nokian have now come up with the SnapSkan System which will the measure the whole tread depth by 3D Scanning. This is at present only available in Finland but should come to the US & Europe later. Looks an interesting device and naturally good for the Tyre Dealers but then Safety is important - Dave

gvmdaddy, take a look at this as it might confirm your doubts as it looks pretty damn accurate with 300,000 measurements taken and a claimed accuracy of 0,2mm or 0.008" - Dave
