Right have found a local supplier and fitter will call during in the week and look to get these for the parents QQ but also wife's car when that arrives next month.Any ideas on fitting costs at all?And what would be better on the Tekna wheels? Black or silver gator?
I think most suppliers charge between £100/£120 to supply and fit. Black would be less obvious and blend in with the Tekna alloys, silver would stand out more. It is a personal choice whether you want them to stand out or blend in. I think matching the gators with the colour of the car looks good. There are about 9 different colours and even if the coloured gator didn't exactly match the colour of the car they would still look good in my view. I like white on a black car as the one on this thread.

So around £60 for gators and £60 for the fitting..guess that's okay woh me of ot protects them :)

Think will go with black as QQ is black as well and want a blend in not stand out for them

Look forward to hearing what you think of them. I'm more tempted as each day passes. I note that there are very few dealers (that stock and/or fit), up in Scotland anyway so would probably ask Kwik-Fit whether or not they would do them - good to have a guide price.

Okey dokes an update for you....

£100 supplied and fitted to all four wheels....

However I was talking to another wheel specialist this morning about wife's car (silly split rim polished wheels) anyhow mentioned these to him he said they used to do alloy gators but stopped as they didn't find then that good.

Also when it comes to diamond cut wheels as per QQ there is just as much risk that moisture and dirt can become trapped under the AG and can lead to the white worm effect under the lacquer.

So...rang the local agent / fitter and had a good convo with them who agreed that on some wheels the above is possible especially where the AG and wheels don't marry up properly.

Diamond cut alloys as we know have to be sent away for repair due to the way they are made and cost around £100 repair for simple kerbing scuff....

So the question now is - risk with or risk without....

Nissan of Aylesbury inform me that the wheel protectors they advertise in the showroom are called Kerb Safe and are available for £150 for all four wheels. This is the dealership that the forum quoted as giving members a discount. I haven't seen a reply to my question 'is the discount still available'. I haven't contacted them myself as my car is still September 1st and I feel it's a bit premature.

Korky - I assume that the guy had an alternative in his pocket? I'm all ears at the moment as you might realise, hear no evil see no evil.

I was at our Dealers today and they are working on ordering our Accessories and they are now going to order for us the Rim Ringz parts in Black for our Tekna QQ. It would appear that the installation is similiar for AG as well the problem is that there will never be a face to face contact as there is bound to be some warpage of the plastic, therefore gaps where dirt, dust can hang up in - Dave

I have been watching this thread as I was going to fit Alloygators when my car arrives (Tekna 1.5)But have found this on the Alloygator FAQ site: Q. Can AlloyGator be used on Machine Polished/Diamond Cut Alloy WheelsThe "AlloyGator" alloy wheel rim protectors are not recommended for machine polished or diamond cut alloy wheels. Although fitting the product will provide superior protection against kerb damage, due to existing imperfections in the lacquered wheel surface our product may increase the risk of moisture retention and accelerate wheel degradation. Providing there is no minute damage to the wheel surface, fitting the "AlloyGator" wheel rim protectors will not cause damage on its own, however AlloyGator Limited accepts no liability if the product when fitted causes such damage. Taking the above into account, we do still have many customers with machine polished wheels, that choose to use alloygators to protect their wheels. So they say do not fit them BUT some do-- at your own risk. Thanks Dave, glad to say I am evidently not a perfectionist. Just read this which helpshttp://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres ... mini-testI have two potential suppliers for the Alloygators at £95 the set so just need to set a date, hopefully before I do any damage!

PeterL, hold on !! here is some more data for you that I used before choosing the Rim Ringz. The video is a very simple explanation of 4 products > Rim Blades / Rim Bands - Very Flexible like Rubber Bands > Alloygators hard plastic > difficult to install, are split, have metal tabs, need a mallett and snips to install - All UK Manufactured > Rim Ringz one piece plastic diameter, flexible plastic, ease of installation - US Manufacture.

PeterL thanks for the Autoexpress info' hopefully then you can make your choice

Take a look at these two videos :
