Hi, I bought my QQ N-tec+ couple of weeks ago which has 215/55R18 tyres and do not have a spare wheel. I have found out that my other car Vauxhall vectra which i am planning to scarp soon has a 16 inch spare wheel with jack. So can I use this spare wheel in my Qashqai in an emergency. If so I will retain the spare wheel before selling the car for scarp. Thanks in advance

Urvishb are you for real?
If you use that jack & spare wheel in an emergency on your QQ, you will end up in A&E!

Depends on spare wheel nut spacing, wheel and tyre dimensions - it's unlikely it'll fit. And I am pretty sure the jack won't be compatible.

Ok, Looks like not a good idea to use that spare wheel.

Thanks for the advice Mark46 and Hound

If you wanted to get a spare on the cheap buy a QQ spare from breakers yard and put a tyre on yourself .....one of your own worn tyres and put new tyre on your car and buy a suitable jack.......david

Hi, related question.

I have a Q+2 (2011/Mark 1 -I believe), it has the sub woofer in the tire well, but I want a spare as I do a lot of distance driving and I really don't want to be stuck somewhere for hours on the side of the road waiting for someone to bring me a premium priced spare tire etc ... my luck will run out soon now that I've started looking into it.

Problem is I also have 215/55 R18 tires.

Q1. With the fold down seats I'm picking that I can't put a full size spare in the boot right? (no jack so can't pop it off to take a look darn it) That would just be too easy! - (I am assuming the space saver will fit)
Q2. So far I've not found a Nissan Q R18 spare tire... every listing seems to be for an R16 based kit. Does an R18 exist?
Q3. If no R18's exist ... I had the same concern as Mark46 about putting an R16 tire on one wheel with R18's on the other 3 and ending up in the ditch... if this the approved solution (doubtful) is best practice if you're unlucky to get the flat in the front is it best to fit the spare to the back and the full size to the front?
Q3. some of the kits come with replacement foam, is the foam kit that comes with the fitted sub-woofer not suitable when using the space for a spare or do some cars literally have nothing back there and need the kit?

urvishb what did you end up doing?

Thanks,
R

Please try to search these topics using the “Search” facility as there has been some lengthy discussions on this subject but mainly J11A related and many photos also.
From the experience of having no Spare but only the Gunk & the Compressor when the J11A was introduced many members were interested in the “Emergency Spare Wheel Kit” which was used originally in the J10 model but also fitted the J11.
From what I know there is only a 16” Wheel Kit available (no original Nissan 18”) which should fit as the Wheel Fixing Holes / Diameters / Pitching etc are the same on Nissan Models.
This Kit is basically a “Get you home Kit” and not recommended for High Speeds or Long Distances. There is a Sticker for 80km/h or 50mph Max.
Not really sure on the last point, but we got the Gunk & Compressor and removed them. The J11 Kit replaced them but I still have the Compressor just for emergency use. Take a look at the last attachment with regard to the J10 Sub-Woofer.
I hope this is of some assistance - Dave 😉

This 16" vs 18" seems to throw a lot of people. As shown, it's the tyre size that keeps the rolling radius the same as the other wheels.
This may help:

Try this post as this is one that would have shown up using the “Search” Facility - Dave :)

What “Hound” has shown I tend to agree with as below are the calculations used before plus your 18” information :

18” 215/55 215 x 0,55 = 118,25 / 25,4 =4,655” x 2 =9,311 + 18 = 27,31”

Just got my 16" 195/40 space saver plus the two foams, jack, wrench. Tyre fit well but extended a bit higher than the edge of the trunk floor. The foams took care of the inch or so difference, but they were not exactly a snug fit (probably are shared with the smaller J10). The jack, wrench, etc. fitted well into the foam, so I don't expect any rattles from the trunk. Overall seems worth the 160-pound cost. I travel a lot and once had a tyre wall puncture that would have left me stranded if I did not have a spare, as no gunk would have fixed it.
