Hi

My Qashqai is in need of some TLC to a couple of alloys. The car had a couple of scuffs to the alloys when I bought it, should have insisted they be repaired before handing over my cash. I fitted some rimblades instead which covered the scuffs and they have done a good job. However two of the wheels are now starting to whiteworm, one is particularly bad,and looks awful.

My question is, has anyone had their diamond cut alloy wheels refurbished, and if so did they come up like new, and has the refurb lasted well?

I have seen a set of brand new Tekna alloys on e-bay with new Continental tyres and TPMS fitted for £895, which is a good price, so not sure whether I should just go ahead and get some new wheels?

I am sure it would be cheaper for a refurb, but don't want to waste money if the refurb is not good and lasts.

Thanks for any advice peeps.

Doug, have not really had a problem with our Wheels at present. There are a couple of good posts on the Forum though that might be of help and give you some ideas or a better understanding of what is involved - Dave ;)

You can only have diamond cuts skimmed once incidentally.
Yes they look as good as new after Refurb.

Thanks Gel. Thanks for the links Dave. I did put in a search for wheel refurb, but these links never popped up.

Doug, I had a set of these Alloys on a Nissan Note 1,6L always clean and undamaged until for the 1st time I used an Auto car wash with a moving belt and the Chain damaged a couple of the Spokes - never used again. The Wheel was skimmed and repaired but never really looked as it was when New and cost €140 on the wash insurance - Dave

Gel - I have been quoted £657.50 (inc VAT) to refurbish all 4 diamond cut alloys. Can I be really cheeky and ask if that is the sort of cost you were looking at?

Has anyone else had their diamond cuts refurbed and if so is the price I have been quoted reasonable?

It is hard to find anywhere local to me in East Sussex that actually can refurb such alloys.

Thanks as always for any input.

Doug, IMHO that price does not look that bad but perhaps Gel can confirm this. When you look on the Web for New Alloys there does not appear to be too many available anymore, perhaps because the new QQ J11B is now around. Prices quoted by Glyn Hopkins for New is around £285 each so your price ain‘t that bad. There are a lot of these Mobile Guys on the web that might be worth trying, but I would think skimming would get the best result - Dave :)

Have you tried these Guys which look to be around your area :

2 repaired at cost of £235 in 2015.
Price guide here from Kent based company, Lepsons.

If you have 4 axle jacks & ability to remove wheels, you can send off to them.

No need for x4 axel jacks. Just find some Liverpool folks, they will have lots of bricks to put the car onto. Just make sure you keep an eye on the wheels & tyres as they will dissapear very quickly :)
