Is it possible to buy the rubber valve stem for a Tekna + without buying the whole TPMS unit? I've had to buy a new alloy wheel to replace a damaged one and need to swap over the TPMS unit which is undamaged. The wheel now just has a pull through stem rather than a threaded one and it seems a waste to buy the whole unit if the valve is available on it's own.

Why didn't they just swap the whole unit and valve over to the new wheel? It's all one unit.................

It's just like a standard valve stem that pulls through the rim but with a metal tube that the TPMS clips onto. When you try to pull it through the rim the bottom of the rubber just breaks off. Unfortunately it isn't like the earlier ones that were held in with a nut, cost cutting I suppose.switchback wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 5:10 pm Why didn't they just swap the whole unit and valve over to the new wheel? Thanks Dave. The actual stem looks the same but the sensor is held on with a clip rather than a screw as show. It may just be a different way of holding the sensor. I'll see if it looks like it may fit perhaps there may be more than one clip on the sensor that could be used.DaveBerlin wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 5:25 pm Is this what you are refering to - Dave

I didn't realise they had changed the design. I've got the old bolt-in type. Another backward step by Nissan to save a few pence.g4rth wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 5:29 pmIt's just like a standard valve stem that pulls through the rim but with a metal tube that the TPMS clips onto. I have in the past, managed to remove the complete unit, using some dish washing liquid and a couple small screwdrivers, to "push" the stem back through. A sandpaper flap wheel to smooth the edges of the screwdrivers to avoid damage to the rubber. Fiddly but doable.
