Well It was bound to happen and it has! A pesky high curb jumped out infront of me and many a choice word was expressed!. So I rang a couple of places near to me in Stockport and with out seeing the wheel I was told prices ranging from £170 to £220 and then they would have the wheel for 2 days.Anyway after deciding that a Tekna wont ork on 3 wheels I rang a chap who did alloy repairs who called round and did a repair... result!!! Dont know how he did it but it took an hour and cost £ 40 for a perfect repair

jukester46, so does it now make sense to go the way jonceebee has gone with the Alloygators or how we are going to go here with Rim RingZ. It seems it does begin to make sense to think about this option even after your low cost repair. After requesting the option from our Dealer he is now going to fit a set on his wife's Merc as one Wheel cost him a‚¬500. You think it will never happen to you but S _ _ _ happens ! - Dave

Ive seen the alloygators on a car and tbh they looked pants, all scuffed and speaking to the owner he showed me one wheel where it had slid back and forth which gad raken the lacquer off and half the wheel had a dull look as though water had got underneath so personally will be more careful, if nit go for the £40 repair option.

This is the bit that worries me especially as two fitters have said similar.

But it's one of those things isn't it...scuff it and £200 or alloy gator it and a good while longer before any potential repairs...

Therefore have spoken with dealer and taken their alloy and wheel insurance - that'll do for a couple of years

You get a tool to repair the AlloyGaytor if you scuff it and they give you pieces to play around with until you know what to do, and they come back to as new.As for looking pants, you are the first person I have heard to say that.

Just to clarify I don't think they look bad at all...

I am also seriously considering whether to go for Alloygators or Rim Ringz. I wonder if either of those looks good in silver color on Tekna wheels.Rim Ringz seems easier to fit, but what if they that easy fall off.

th0mps0n, I do not know if you have read the Subject "Alloygators" under "Non Technical Qashqai Discussion" because there are a vast amount of comments on these two Products. Take a look at the youtube Videos attached and you will see how they are installed. There must be a reason that the Air is let out of the Tyres and that for me is to create space for the Lugs or Clips . When the Tyre is filled with Air these hold the Lugs or Clips in Place.
The Guy with all the knowledge on the Alloygators is jonceebee and he has used these for some time - negative comments from Jon - not seen any. I will use the Rim RingZ purely because it is easier for me in Germany. Both these Companies are pretty Big and if there were negative comments I am sure they would have addressed the issues - Dave
