Thank you for reading.

I had a puncture this past week & had to replace my tyres, I noticed my tyres have lug but caps & I removed these with a 4in1 Jack (I didn’t tug at it, just fixed it there & removed the caps)

I’m done now & want to put these caps back, but they won’t fit “snug”. They shake a bit & I don’t feel comfortable that they would remain...

FYI. The other wheel lug nut caps fit snug.

Am I doing something wrong, am I supposed to whack them in with a spanner ?

Hi, take a read of this it might help you. You should have usually in the Rear Hatch Area this Supplier Nissan Tool which can also be obtained from Nissan Dealer or Amazon, eBay etc . You need to pull the Plastic Caps OFF squarely with this Tool or you will distort the Caps and they will not fit correctly again. You can use Pliers but cover the Serrated Edges with tape to prevent damage. If you buy a Tool then buy some spare Caps (or Chrome) also as they are cheap - Dave 😊

Thanks for your reply, funny thing is I didn’t yank them off, are they supposed to fit snug without any hitting force applied ?

Have you tried swapping wheel to wheel?

They aren't to be honest all that tight.

NiiAdom, Hopefully this should solve your problems - Dave 😉

This is the Plastic Cap which should only be a “Push Fit” On the Wheel Bolt (Parts are Old Spares).

This is the “Removal Tool” which has Lugs which drop behind the Cap Form see the next Pic also :

When Pushing the Plastic Cap “ON” there are two slots which open slightly as the 6 Radial Ribs slide over the Hexagon Form - So in theory the Cap is just a “Push Fit”.

I tried one of our Alloys today and all the Caps came OFF & assembled Freely - Best of Luck 😊

@gloucester,
I haven’t tried swapping from wheel to wheel, the only reason I’m skeptical is that it wobbles just a bit when I slide it on comparing this to the other tyres I haven’t touched.

@Dave thanks for your reply as well.

Do your caps lock onto the hexagonal bolt, or at least have some grip on them?

NiiAdom, the Grip / Push Fit is between the 6 Ribs (lets say a radial Contact) and the Flat Surfaces of the Hexagon Nut. We had these also on our Juke and experienced no problems. Just a suggestion buy a new set they are cheap - Dave 🙂
